Upgrades

There’s a line from Ron Howard 80’s film, SPLASH, where the guy trying to expose the mermaid says, “What a WEEK I’m having!” That about sums up … well, pretty much 2012 so far! What a year I’m having!

It seems every time I put up a blog with a statement about being more loving, responding to challenges in a more compassionate manner, is when I’m really put to the test: on a “masters” level!

I know, I know, there are always people worse off than you are, you tell yourself as you process all the rigmarole that comes at you. Nonetheless, when life throws “dung” your way … you gotta deal with it. After all, what is dung … fertilizer! Mistletoe can only grow from a seed that has been digested by the bird and passed through it’s “stool!” That metaphor was helpful in my working through this latest pile of doodoo.

Recently, I got wind of some very disturbing information that sent me through the roof! (Anyone wanting more details send your email and we’ll talk!). Needless to say, my reaction was less than loving. In fact, it took me to the edge …You know, to that doorway, when once opened, could have created a path of destruction so devastating … life for me would probably never be the same.

Although I did voice my opinion loudly through certain public channels, because sometimes you have to shine a light on a rat to catch it, cage it and send it on a boat down under where it won’t cause you any harm again. Sometimes you do have to stand up to bullies and even them smack them on the head hard enough to get the message across. Then sometimes, it’s better to steer clear from them and let them stew in their own mess.

Once again, however, what this last “event” taught me, was that this experience was a gift too, for my own personal growth. At the beginning of the year I prayed for a solution to this toxic issue I’ve been having for a decade now. I prayed that a solution would present itself.

Well, my prayers have been answered, not in the way I expected. (It never is). Now that the initial storm clouds have passed and I’m in a calmer state of mind, I have embraced this latest experience as part of what I call being “upgraded” to a better version of me. It’s not an easy process, and I’m still recovering physically from the emotional stress of this recent upgrade, but once I embraced this as a gift, understanding it’s all part of getting back to being “whole” again, I was able to let it go, and things began shifting.

In the meantime, I will keep getting back up on my surfboard of life and ride these waves as best as I can, maybe playing a few tunes to rock out to as a “soundscape” as well, making the ride more pleasurable!

The Back to Greece link below is one of the new tunes that was born out of this recent joy ride. As with each new birth, the labor experience is a bear … But in the end worth it for all the new babies/creations that are brought forth.

What a year that has been indeed … And I have a feeling … We’re only getting started baby!
